Locations
When choosing a location, I recommend finding something that is sentimental to you or a favorite local hang (such as your family land , a favorite coffee shop or brewery, , your local downtown area or a local park that you love etc).
If you’re unsure of where you’d like your photo session to take place, do not worry! I have several locations that I use on a regular basis that are listed below. Most of these are local to Mount Airy, NC (just because that’s where I’m located). These are just suggested spots that I use most often that other photographers don’t frequent as much (most of these do not require a lot of walking).
If none of these float your boat, that’s perfectly ok! There are lots of options out there (such as Blowing Rock, Hanging Rock, Stone Mountain, Pilot Mountain, Bailey Park) and I’m happy to send a more extensive list if necessary or do some research to find what you’re looking for!
Doughton Park - Sparta, NC
Located off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, this location is so beautiful and there’s several spots to use within the park! It is roughly an hour from Mount Airy, NC.
Blue Ridge Parkway Tunnel
This location utilizes this cute bridge/tunnel right off of the BRP. It’s beautiful any time of year and it’s located 30 minutes from Mt. Airy, NC.
Glade Valley, NC
Located off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is my family’s property with beautiful pine trees. It is roughly 45 minutes from Mount Airy, NC.
Lakemont.
Located in Mount Airy, NC, this is a cute little spot with a small pond.
Riverside
Located in Mount Airy, NC, this location has a paved walkway, river and gravel road.
Blue Ridge Music Center
This particular spot is located just next to the Blue Ridge Music Center off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Galax, VA. It’s a gorgeous spot with open fields and mountain views (height of grass/hay is dependent upon time of year) .
Trailhead at Blue Ridge Music Center
This spot is also located just next to the Blue Ridge Music Center off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Galax, VA. It has a beautiful little dirt road surrounded by trees and open field.
Open Fields
There are a couple of open fields that I currently have access to in Mount Airy, NC that are simple and beautiful (certain looks are dependent upon when the field has been mowed).
Lowgap Barn
This is a cute little old barn in my neighborhood in Lowgap, NC. It’s especially great for Fall photos!
Quarry Park
Located in Winston Salem, NC, Quarry Park offers a more urban, city feel to your photos.
Andy Griffith Playhouse
Located in downtown Mount Airy, NC, the Andy Griffith Playhouse offers a cute little city park vibe in a small town.
Sanders Ridge Winery
Located in Boonville, NC, Sanders Ridge is a quaint little winery with a small pond, gazebo and vineyard (only available certain days of the week).
The Shiloh
Beautiful venue located in Lowgap, NC. $50 per hour fee to use, available by appointment only.
Inman Farms
Located in Dobson, NC. This farm features mini highland cows, alpacas, goats and donkeys. Available by appointment only.
